A solid argument to NOT be pissed at Facebook about your ‘privacy’

Recently there has been a lot of people out there railing on Facebook about how they are screwing it’s users and throwing privacy out the window. This guy makes a good case about how it’s not FB’s fault and we should all just relax.

I defend Facebook because it is the wrong target for our anger. It has done more to bring people together than any technology of the last five years, and the good it has brought far outweighs the bad. We made the decision to turn our personal information over to a private company, and for the most part Facebook made good use of it.

Will you quit Facebook on May 31st?

There is a movement a-brewing.

For us it comes down to two things: fair choices and best intentions. In our view, Facebook doesn’t do a good job in either department. Facebook gives you choices about how to manage your data, but they aren’t fair choices, and while the onus is on the individual to manage these choices, Facebook makes it damn difficult for the average user to understand or manage this. We also don’t think Facebook has much respect for you or your data, especially in the context of the future.

21 Tips for Using Twitter and Facebook for Business

Good Read!

Last year, Forbes magazine assembled a visual list for its Top 21 Twitter Tips to showcase business examples on how to use Twitter for marketing, service, sales, and ideation. The original compilation served as inspiration for a new list, one that helps businesses of all shapes, sizes, and focus embrace not only Twitter, but all social networks of relevance.

While many of the examples and quotes remain the same, the list is modified based on my observations and personal experiences.
