An ongoing series of random thoughts about UX Industry. These are just opinions so don’t get all riled up… it’s NOT about you:
If you call yourself a UX Designer yet all you find yourself doing is managing projects that other people or agencies design…. you might need to look in the mirror and ask yourself “Am I really a UX Designer or a Project Manager?”
If the answer is “Project Manager” then you might want to look at the Leadership of your UX team. What is their vision? Do they have the experience needed to lead a UX team into the next 10 years? Are they themselves a designer? Then look a level above them, who is their boss. Does that person know anything about design or UX in general.
These are tumultuous times for UX. The verdict is still out on how important it is and it’s ROI, which has been caused by lack of qualified people running UX and the horribly uninformed. We cannot let those that do not really deserve to be in UX ruin it for those that do.
